This is my sixth trip to St Petersburg and the best hotel I have stayed at so far - for a week it was truly a home away from home. The property offers great value for the money. The location is very central, surrounded by great cafes, bars, and eateries (not to miss are the Uzbek and Georgian cafes on Liteiny prospect), but the building itself is on a quiet side street off the Nevsky. The service is superb, the staff young, friendly, welcoming and extremely helpful, the 19th century building nicely renovated, the rooms large, spacious, and sparkling clean and the walls impressively thick, so you have no idea what is going outside of your own room. Breakfast buffet was plentiful and diverse, with lots of options, including lots of fresh fruit and delicious Russian treats (my favorites were zapekanka and little cabbage pirozhki), and if you don't find what you want, the charming chef can always whip up an omelette or surprise you with a cheesecake. Last but not least, no matter when you arrive there is always tea, coffee and treats on hand. Well done, team 1852!
